1918 worcester, ma – Fue una cantante popular estadounidense y artista vocal arraigada en el jazz. Ya cantando en público en su adolescencia, Gibbs alcanzó la aclamación y la notoriedad a mediados de la década de 1950 copiando canciones originadas en la comunidad negra de rhythm and blues y más tarde se convirtió en una vocalista destacada para muchos programas de variedades y comedia de radio y televisión.
